Working freelance remotely

I spent most of my career as a successful editor in Los Angeles. Three years ago, I relocated to Knoxville, TN. While I'm getting plenty of work, I find that many clients are resistant to long distance relationships. These same clients may not have a problem with me working from home in LA - in fact, I've done many jobs where I never even met the client in person, even though we were in the same town. But those same people balk now that I'm 2000 miles away. What are your opinions regarding remote work and how can I persuade my clients that it is a situation that is working on a daily basis?
